Deer Andry is Andry Mochammad’s solo exhibition project which has not yet been implemented while he is still physically present with all of us. The solo exhibition plan is still warm in Muhammad Akbar’s memory, as well as Amelia Lestari, whom I notified via email shortly after my and Andry’s conversation about this plan. So strong was the spirit of this exhibition that Andry planned, to the point of asking technical questions about the manufacture of ceramics from casting techniques as well as plaster molds.
Starting from a casual chat about future plans, work and activities, as well as plans to build a showroom at home. As usual, Andry is always in the position of elder to provide advice and opinions. There was a very positive aura and energy when I said I wanted to create a showroom, which was responded by Andry’s desire to make his solo exhibition there. At this moment there was some bargaining over the time and types of works to be exhibited; “Want to print plastic stuffed animals into ceramics” was what Andrymoch first said in the casual chat, then I asked about the final display he planned.
Andrymoch wants to make ceramic and painting installations. Due to the coincidence of the recent situation that the medium of painting has become very sensitive to appreciation, I mentioned it with the suspicion that Andrymoch would make a large painting and sell it. But then the answer was “Not really, I want the paintings to be small, pictures of animals”. An installation; the paintings surround the ceramic statues he made later.
Regarding when the solo exhibition will be held, Andrymoch advised “If possible, not too long, after the screening and videolab discussion in Semarang” means after March 2008. But then who knows the length and the shortness of a person’s life, including Andry Mochammad, our best friend who called so quickly when there are many ideas and activities that he wants to realize.
Therefore, we, we, friends and friends around Andry Mochammad want to immediately realize what Andrymoch wanted before he left us all, last May 1, 2008. Hopefully what we are trying to realize can remind us of the positive aura and energy that Andry gave us all. We hope that this exhibition will become an event for friendship between friends and a form of our longing for Andry Mochammad’s presence.
